It's also a day to honor the deportation of adoptees whose citizenship wasn't finalized by adoptive parents, adoption attorneys, etc. It also acknowledges the staggering statistics of adoptees being over-represented in prisons, jails, mental health and treatment facilities and being four times more likely to attempt suicide. It's also a day to honor all the adoptees who didn't make it by ending their own lives, and all the adoptees who have been murdered or abused by their adoptive parents.
